Storm damage

We had a brief but intense storm on Friday 6/29.  Everyone in the DC area added the word "derecho" to their vocabulary.  Derecho is a  a widespread, long-lived, straight-line windstorm that is associated with a fast-moving band of severe thunderstorms.  We got creamed by one that started somewhere near Chicago and ended in Maryland.  We were lucky not to lose any trees, just had to chase the trash cans and chop up some limbs.

We had several limbs like this that were down....

We had some big trees down at the bottom of the stairs to the walking trail...

Am waiting on chainsaw help for these......

We were lucky.  We lost power on Friday but got it back on Sunday.  We lost some food in the freezer and refrigerator.  The area around us lost all the traffic lights, 911 service and cell phone coverage, so it wasn't much fun for the weekend.  Thankfully, we are back in business this week.  There are still lots of folks with damage roofs, decks and many still without power.  All in all, we didn't have too hard of a time.
