The National Zoo has a rope and platform structure soaring over the sidewalks for the
orangutans. It allows them to cross the zoo from one area to another. We were thrilled on our visit to be there when two
orangutans climbed up the structure and used the ropes to go to a new area!
The ropes are somewhere between 20 and 30 feet above us. On this day, a long haired
orangutan and a short hair crossed above us.
Once they get to the enclosure on the other side they climb down the blue structure into the enclosure.
