Baseball Goodies

Grace blows her zuzu-flute; it sounded like a wounded cow but made the opposing Lynchburg Hillcat batters have lots of strikes.
Tutti-Frutti Dippin Dots are the best when its over 90 degrees in the shade.
Yummy in my tummy.Posted by Picasa

This is Grace's game face for her second event. She swam in the outermost lane which is where MB was stationed. I got lots of great pictures!

Freestyle

Here she is in line for her lane for her first event. Mike and MB worked on the pool deck as volunteers- Mike was a timer and MB was a runner.
G is in the second lane from the top.
Here the timers are leaning out to watch for Grace to touch and end the race. There are two timers in each lane. They take this pretty seriously here.... Grace did really well for her first event! Yeah Grace!

Grace's First Swim Meet

Grace has joined the swim team at our neighborhood pool. She is in the 9/10 year old group of the "Tidal Waves" Swim Team. She has been going to practice almost every day after school for the month of June. When school finally gets out, 6/24, her practices will change to every weekday morning. Swimming is a big deal here!

Saturday morning they had time trials for all the kids. Gracie swam 50 m freestyle and 50 m backstroke.

They line the kids up on these benches to get them ready for their heat. It gets hard to tell them all apart when they are dressed in the same suits and hats and goggles.
G is the one next to the girl in pink! She is awaiting her first event.

The peonies and azaleas have already come and gone, but all sorts of big bulb lilies are popping out.
